I was looking for tips on how to combat holiday weight gain when I came across an interesting article published by the Cleveland Clinic Miller Family Heart and Vascular Institute. Entitled 8 Steps to Surviving Holiday Weight Gain, the article stresses the importance of self-discipline, exercise and ample fruit and vegetable intake especially during the holiday season.
According to ulia Renee Zumpano, RD, LD, registered dietitian, Preventive Cardiology and Rehabilitation, instead of trying to lose weight, we should focus on maintaining our current weight during the holiday season. Meaning, I am 132 lbs. right now so instead of aiming to be slimmer by New Year’s eve, I should just focus on not gaining more weight.

My friends and I -for the nth time- talked about staging a sportsfest for bloggers last night. The impromptu planning session happened over cheeseburger, soda, and fries at McDonald’s (of all places!).
Since I’m not getting any younger and in great need for physical activity, I didn’t object when the rest of the group gave their suggestions. I am definitely not a fitness buff but I do know what’s good for my body. After all, engaging in sports is fun and it would be really cool for bloggers to be fit and healthy.

I had a weigh-in and sadly, I tipped the scales at 130 lbs. I was 128 lbs. more than a month ago so I gained two whole pounds.
It’s not that I need my bathroom scale to tell me that. I know my body too well so I also know that I’m definitely packing on the pounds. My face is rounder, my tummy and arms flabbier, and my thighs and bottom are definitely heavier. In short, the two pounds I gained all went to the wrong places!

I almost forgot that last August 28, I joined my first spinning class at the Holiday Fitness Spa and Fitness Center. I honestly didn’t want to take part in it since I have an idea how physically tiring power cycling can be (I watched Simon Pegg’s Run, Fatboy, Run) but my friends wanted to try it so I joined them anyway.

Because I’m a certified Coca-Cola nut…
Now it can be told. After 8 months of staying away from softdrinks, I finally gave in and went back to drinking cola. I feel rotten.
I don’t know if I’m going to be able to kick this Coke habit again. I may be known to exercise self-control from time to time but when I relapse, I relapse. Just imagine a person going to to the dark side. I believe that’s what happened.
