I went to General Santos City last weekend and since I predicted that I will eat to my heart’s content during my stay there, I remembered to weigh myself before I stepped out of the house. I was 128 lbs.
During my 3-day stay in GenSan, I had seafood, steak, lots of rice, and an assortment of crocodile and ostrich dishes so I sort of expected a couple of pounds of weight gain.
When I arrived home last Monday (Aug 3), I weighed myself again– still 128 lbs. Imagine that! I thought I ruined my diet but I did not. I suspect that it was because I moved around a lot and because not everything I consumed was fattening.
I remember telling a blogger-friend, that since ostrich meat is red meat, it has to be high in cholesterol. I did a little research on the nutritional information of crocodile and ostrich meat and I was surprised that ostrich meat is actually very low in cholesterol compared to chicken, beef, turkey, or pork. Here’s the nutritional information on 100 grams of cooked lean ostrich meat:

Crocodile meat, however, is another matter. It is actually high in calories compared to chicken, beef, or even pork. A hundred grams (100g) of cooked crocodile meat has 258 calories and while its fat content may not be as high as that of beef’s, it is higher compared to chicken or pork.

To be a woman is really tough. Every sip and every mouthful, have to measure calories carefully. So, do you eat ostrich meat instead now?
Ostrich meat is so pricey, probably more than $20 per kilo so I don’t think I’ll be able to eat it to my heart’s content.LOL.
But I only eat chicken, fish, and vegetables at home to help keep off the excess weight. I still have pork and beef but only when I dine out.

I beg to differ in the calorie content of crocodiles.
100grams of raw crocodile is actually 104 calories. If you are researching on cooked meat then its subject to how it is cook which can be very biased.
