I was looking for tips on how to combat holiday weight gain when I came across an interesting article published by the Cleveland Clinic Miller Family Heart and Vascular Institute.  Entitled 8 Steps to Surviving Holiday Weight Gain, the article stresses the importance of self-discipline, exercise and ample fruit and vegetable intake especially during the holiday season.

According to ulia Renee Zumpano, RD, LD, registered dietitian, Preventive Cardiology and Rehabilitation, instead of trying to lose weight, we should  focus on maintaining our current weight during the holiday season.  Meaning,  I am 132 lbs. right now so instead of aiming to be slimmer by New Year’s eve, I should just focus on not gaining more weight.

My friends and I -for the nth time- talked about staging a sportsfest for bloggers last night.  The impromptu planning session happened over cheeseburger, soda, and fries at McDonald’s (of all places!).

Since I’m not getting any younger and in great need for physical activity, I didn’t object when the rest of the group gave their suggestions. I am definitely not a fitness buff but I do know what’s good for my body.  After all, engaging in sports is fun and it would be really cool for bloggers to be fit and healthy.

Lose It! Application for iPhone/iPod Touch

I have been using the Lose It! application for the iPhone/iPod Touch for a couple of months now and I say  it is a very useful weight loss tool as it allows me to set my weight loss goals and help me carry out any weight loss plan efficiently.

I am currently using Lose It! version 1.2, so I can now modify my program by simply editing my profile (this is very useful for those who encounter dieting setbacks).  It also comes with a passcode lock, just perfect for those who don’t really want other people to know how overweight they really are. :-)
