Are Korean Dishes This Fattening?

I had a very large Korean dinner last night. I had yukejan (a rich and spicy soup), bibimbap (sticky rice topped with egg, meat, and vegetables and drizzled with sesame oil), and tteok boki (rice cakes with eggs and vegetables), bulgogi (marinated barbecued beef), and an assortment of appetizers like kimchi and sauteed vegetables.

My companions didn’t like the rice cakes so I ended up having most of it. The servings at that Korean restaurant were large so I believe I had more than 4 servings of the rice cakes. I also had a healthy amount of the bibimbap and bulgogi plus a small bowl of the yukejan.

A Major Dieting and Blogging Setback

Category : General Dieting and Weight Loss

Whoa!  My last blog entry was April 15.  Meaning, it has been more than a month since I last updated this blog.  I have a couple of excuses up my sleeve but I don’t think what I can come up with are acceptable.  Oh well, here are the reasons why I haven’t been updating my weigh loss blog.

  • I was out of town a couple of times–> Simply not good enough. Although I did some traveling, I always brought a laptop with me or there’s always somebody willing to lend me his so I should have managed to update this blog for a couple of times the past month at least.

Still No Weight Loss

Category : General Dieting and Weight Loss

I weighed myself yesterday and as expected, I didn’t lose weight .  I am still heavy at 136 lbs., which is my starting weight.  I am quite sad but I somehow knew that eating out a lot will have its consequences.  I mean, when I can, I always order a bowl of ravioli noodle soup and Chinese food is packed with sodium and fat.  It is not as if I was expecting that Chinese dimsum place I frequent to to use low-fat stock for their noodles.

Failure to Diet-blog

Category : General Dieting and Weight Loss

My last blog update was more than 3 weeks ago. I won’t bother to make excuses and it’s really irresponsible of me to have done so.

These past three weeks, I haven’t been to conscious with my food intake. I attended this blogging event for two days (March 13-14) and OMG, the food was plentiful and delicious. For the first day of the blogging event, we went to this restaurant which served authentic Japanese food. It was my first time to be there so I kinda pigged out on the sukiyaki, dumplings, and mixed sashimi.  I also had stir-fried vegetables.

Losing 30 Pounds Refurbished

Category : General Dieting and Weight Loss

And so after days of dieting, I decided to binge-eat last night.   I was doing well until I had a very large Vietnamese dinner of spring rolls, sizzling beef, seafood hot and sour soup, and bagoong rice. Dinner would have sufficed but my usually insatiable appetite was back with a vengeance.

Over coffee at Jose Rafael (a coffee shop near where I live), I had two different types of pasta, eggs, and whole wheat toast.   The food was so good that I just couldn’t help myself.  I attacked the food like a predator going for the kill…seriously!

I also got a new theme.  I got tired of the old theme so I decided to install a new one.

And so this weight loss blog, Losing 30 Pounds, finally had a  makeover.  Let’s hope that I’ll be a really big loser.  In terms of weight loss, that is.:)
