It’s been more than two months since my last blog post.  And in the past two months, I haven’t been eating healthy and haven’t been exercising.  I can’t even remember the last time I played badminton.

So basically, here’s what happened:

Lots of fattening delicious food + no exercise = weight gain

Deliciously Healthy

I needed inspiration for an update in this blog so I searched my SD card for pictures of healthy and appetizing food and I found these:

Granola with Soya Milk....yummy!

Lyle & Brendel's Corny Vegetable Salad....preparing it together makes it twice as delicious! :p

Shrimp Siomai: Makes a healthy snack if you stick to a single serving...:-)

I really miss having granola.  It is so filling and delicious.  Too bad a 700 g bag costs more than Php200.  Too expensive for me.  Even a carton of soya milk sells for Php60 nowadays. And to think I can easily finish a liter in one day. :P

And salad greens with corn on the cob? This one I also love.  Lyle and  I had so much fun preparing this.  I am thinking of doing this again soon.

And lastly, the shrimp siomai.  This is what I usually have when I crave for Chinese food at night and it’s too late to go to my favorite  dimsum place.  Two pieces of siomai and shredded lettuce and I’m all set.  The lettuce, by the way, is to keep me from going overboard on the dumpling.  Works for me all the time.

Looking at these pictures makes me very hungry  and I really want to munch on something.  But  since I’m currently somewhere where healthy food is not in abundance, I guess I have to stare at these pictures awhile.

No Rice, No Noodles this April

Goodbye, my love…

Since I haven’t been watching my diet since February 17 (yeah, I remember!), I will have to do something remarkable for the month of April.  And so I have decided NOT to have rice or noodles for one month.

This won’t be easy for me, I tell you.  I am a self-confessed carb-addict who’s been snacking on Nissin cup noodles a lot lately.  I also have a steady supply of Lucky Me instant noodles at home.

But I really have to do it as I already told people that I won’t be having rice or noodles for 30 days.  It will be pure torture so I’ll probably need all the luck in the world.

So I decided not to have red meat this year.  So far, I’ve been successful.  I dined out 5 times in the last 9 days and I stuck to ordering chicken or fish.

But at one point, I came close to dropping my resolve to abstain from red meat because Lyle and I went to a dimsum place called Dimsum Diner.  There, we ordered Yang Chow Fried Rice.  For those who are not familiar with it, Yang Chow Fried rice is a Cantones-style wok fried rice that had shrimp and pork as its main ingredients (ours had chorizo macau and pork asado).

No Red Meat in 2010

For 2010, I will refrain from having red meat.  Yes, this self-imposed no red meat policy will be for the whole year.  Meaning, I won’t  be having McDonald’s cheeseburger, Jollibee’s burger steak, shrimp and pork dumplings, and pork ribs for a whole year.  Fat chance, huh? Well, good luck to me.

Last year, I decided not to consume even a single drop of  alcohol  and I succeeded.  I also wanted to abstain from drinking cola but the resolve only lasted for 8 months.  Still, for somebody who’s been a heavy Coke-drinker for more than 15 years, 8 months is something.
